San José
San José, the host city for the 35th CLAG Meeting (May 20-22, 2018), is the capital and largest city in Costa Rica. It is the country’s economic and political center with over 300,000 inhabitants. The city is situated in the Central Valley at an elevation of about 3,800 ft with the Talamanca Mountains to the south and volcanoes to the north.
San José is the cultural and historic center of the country. Within easy walking distance of the conference hotel visit the Plaza de la Cultura, the Plaza Central, the Gold Museum, the Jade Museum, the National Museum, and much more. There is also a rich diversity of places for food, drink and night life.
The weather in San José city is pleasant all year. During the CLAG meeting dates in May, there are usually cool sunny mornings, with possible afternoon showers, and cooler evenings.

San José, la sede del 35o Congreso de CLAG (20-22 de mayo de 2018), es la capital y ciudad más grande de Costa Rica. Es el centro económico y político del país con más de 300.000 habitantes. Está situada en el valle central en una elevación de aproximadamente 1.100 metros con las montañas de Talamanca al sur y los volcanes al norte.
La ciudad es el centro cultural e histórico del país. A poca distancia a pie del hotel de la conferencia, visite la Plaza de la Cultura, la Plaza Central, el Museo del Oro, el Museo de Jade, el Museo Nacional y mucho más. También hay una riqueza diversa de lugares de comida, bebida y vida nocturna.
La ciudad es agradable a lo largo del año. Durante las fechas de CLAG en mayo, las mañanas generalmente son calurosas y soleadas con lluvias en la tarde y noches más frescas.
